Community Outreach Committee

Mission and Purpose Statements

The mission of the AASP Community Outreach Committee is to educate the public on the benefits of sport and exercise psychology by providing information on how sport psychology services can meet their needs. The specific objectives of the Community Outreach Committee are to develop and implement plans to:

1. Educate the public about sport and exercise psychology and AASP, with a specific focus on consumer needs and benefits.
2. Market and promote the use of sport and exercise psychology and AASP by practitioners.
3. Identify potential opportunities for AASP to develop and expand outreach services or activities, such as assigning liaisons to practitioner groups (e.g., NATA, NCAA, YMCA/YWCA, businesses and corporations, youth sport organizations, fitness centers).
4. Promote and administer Community Outreach grants to AASP members in order to increase application of sport psychology principles to member communities
