Overview
As a result of the significant health and sport performance implications that can occur due to disordered eating and unbalanced exercise, it is critical that sport psychology researchers and practitioners are focused on working together to address these concerns. The presenters for this webinar will (a) use the latest research to discuss the status of the prevention and treatment of eating disorders in athletes, (b) use a clinical case study to illustrate the complexities in identifying, preventing, and treating eating disorders in the sport environment, (c) share sample resources to aid in effective identification and referral, and (d) offer key directions for enhancing collaboration between researchers and practitioners to address eating disorders in sport.  

Target Audience
Sport practitioners (e.g., mental health professionals, certified consultants, coaches, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches) and applied researchers

  • Review prevention and treatment options for athletes informed by the latest research
  • Examine a clinical case study that illustrates the complexities of and critical considerations when identifying, preventing, and treating eating disorders in sport
