Sport Psychologists: trains SOF personnel to develop and use the psychological skills necessary to perform optimally in training and operations, realize their potential, and increase their overall physical and emotional wellbeing.
Responsible for advising leadership in matters relating to mental performance, exercise and sport psychology. Provides psychological advice to SOF personnel based on evidence-based peer-reviewed literature. Provides information about psychological factors in sports, exercise, and physical activity to individuals and groups. Assists staff with goal-setting, performance profiling, visualization, and performance planning. Participates in periodic meetings to review human performance training provided to patients and identifies opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications:
The incumbent shall possess a doctoral degree in Human Performance or Kinesiology, or Exercise and Sport Sciences with a specialization in Sport Psychology. Must have a minimum of five years of experience in sport psychology and demonstrated experience working with elite athletes is highly desired. Certification as a Certified Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) is desired, but not required. The contractor shall be capable of meeting physical demands of training with SOF including the ability to hike over rough terrain and function in austere environments to observe SOF training evolutions and the ability to assist with strength and conditioning testing and training protocols, and lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 20 kilograms.

Position Summary: Youth and Children’s Studies at the Brantford Campus of Wilfrid Laurier University invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning July 1, 2013, subject to budgetary approval. Performance Psychologist, Waikato, High Performance Sport NZ
Working with Bike New Zealand and other national sports organisations, their coaches and world class athletes the successful candidate will manage, develop and deliver performance building psychology support.
The successful candidate will have at least five years experience working in a high performance sport environment, and a proven record in the provision of performance enhancing psychology or mental skills support to athletes and coaches.
To succeed in this role you will have significant experience working with elite athletes and coaches, including working with and supporting teams at major international competitions (Olympics or World Championships). You will be a strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with coaches, athletes and support staff.

Applied Statistics Visiting Professor position at Willamette University, Salem, OR
Position Summary: Willamette University seeks to hire for a position at the Visiting Assistant Professor level that jointly emphasizes applied statistics and a disciplinary specialty within its undergraduate College of Liberal Arts. The home department will be determined by the specialty of the successful candidate; likely departments include Biology, Economics, Exercise Science, Mathematics, Politics, Psychology, and Sociology.
The position, renewable for up to 3 years, carries an annual 6-course teaching assignment in the form of a) at least two sections per year of a general, introductory statistics offering, b) other courses to be determined based on the needs of the College and the expertise of the person hired, and c) a one-course-equivalent assignment to the Quantitative Analysis & Design Center (QUAD) to serve as a staff training mentor and consultant for thesis projects, student/faculty collaborative research, and other specialty needs of the center.
Academic specialty is open; preferred qualifications include a breadth of statistical training that allows the candidate to serve as a consultant to advanced undergraduates and faculty across a range of disciplines, research projects, study designs, and data types.

Responsibilities
Sports Psychology is an interdisciplinary field spanning kinesiology, psychology, and motor learning and control. The contractor SP shall train SOF (Special Operations Forces) personnel to develop and use the psychological skills necessary to perform optimally in training and operations, realize their potential, and increase their overall physical and emotional well-being. Position Title: Mental Skills Specialist, USTA Player Development, Incorporated
Location: Boca Raton, FL USTA Training Center Headquarters
Purpose: Provide mental skills training and education to elite athletes, coaches, and parents as a member of USTA Player Development Team.
Major Duties:

The sport psychologist will provide professional individual psychotherapy / mental health counseling and performance enhancement consultation with student-athletes. The sport psychologist will serve as the mental health services coordinator, which includes providing services, referring student-athletes to campus Counseling Services and/or other resources, and providing coaches with education regarding mental health concerns of student-athletes and emerging team needs.
The sport psychologist will collaborate with Athletics Department medical staff; provide consultation with psychological treatment for injured athletes, proactive consultation, education and support for resolving issues of disordered eating behavior, cases of substance misuse, and other issues that may interfere with the success of student-athletes. This position is also expected to develop and deliver mental skills training programs and team cohesion strategies.
Required Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA approved institution.
- Formal training in sport psychology and performance enhancement.

Possible Locations: Ft. Bliss, Ft. Lewis, Ft. Hood, Ft. Sam Houston, Ft. Gordon, Ft. Jackson, Ft. Bragg, Ft. Walter Reed, Ft. Knox, and West Point.
Position Description: Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) teaches mental skills and performance enhancement techniques to Army Soldiers, Families, and DA Civilians. Teaching is conducted in group and individual settings, and includes general education in human performance along with personalized training on how to acquire and apply specific mental skills and techniques that cultivate the mental and emotional strength necessary to thrive in an era of overwhelming demands and persistent conflict. The mental skills and techniques taught by CSF PREP include: Building Confidence, Goal Setting, Attention Control, Energy Management, Integrating Imagery, and Team Building. Using these principles, PESs help Soldiers to become high performing “tactical athletes� and help foster high performing “unit teams� in preparation for, during, and following combat operations. Specifically, PESs teach performance psychology to further promote excellence and efficiency during physical, technical, and tactical training, as well as during the challenges of combat operations. PESs also provide tailored education to facilitate Wounded Warriors in their transition back to their units or to civilian life. CSF PREP teams are comprised of 3-5 PESs and led by a Site Manager with seasoned prior military experience. PES tasks, responsibilities, and additional duties include: (a) Attend training exercises and field operations as requested by individual units to serve as a performance enhancement consultant and to coach Army Soldiers and Leaders on the acquisition of performance psychology techniques and their application to individual military tasks and unit operations. (b) Provide tailored educational programs and workshops to help Army families and DA Civilians living and working in demanding environments achieve success and accomplish personal, professional, and family goals. (c) Utilize simulation technology and biofeedback in accordance with established guidelines to demonstrate performance enhancement principles and to personalize the acquisition and application of performance psychology techniques. (d) Recommend improvements to all aspects of CSF Prep operations. (e) Perform routine CSF PREP operational duties. (F) Conduct assessment, assist in program evaluation, and support research projects being conducted locally. (G) Assist or provide CSF PREP program overview briefings to VIPs and high-ranking leaders when required. Postdoctoral Fellowship in Behavioral Medicine, Physical Activity Research and Tobacco Interventions Research at Brown University
Two post-doctoral fellowship opportunities are available at the Centers for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine (CBPM) at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and The Miriam Hospital. Clinical Sport Psychologist/Therapist, McCallum Place
McCallum Place, a clinic for the treatment of eating disorders, is seeking a Clinical Sport Psychologist/Therapist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate, an enthusiastic and creative problem solver, will participate in the development and coordination of an innovative approach to treating college and elite level athletes with eating disorders.
Responsibilities include providing clinical services in individual and group therapy formats, coordination of the treatment team, as well as acting as a liaison between the athletic program and the McCallum Group treatment programs. The Clinical Sport Psychologist/Therapist is responsible for communicating and interfacing with coaches, other sport personnel, and administrators from the athlete-patient’s home college, university, or sport governing body regarding progress during treatment, and arranging for aftercare with such entities. In the absence of the program directors (Ron Thompson, PhD and Roberta Sherman, PhD), the Clinical Sport Psychologist/Therapist will provide oversight and guidance for administrative and clinical supervisory work in the coordination of program, personnel services, and maintaining the quality of therapeutic services by recognizing and assisting in solving professional, administrative and supervisory problems.
