Erin Haugen, PhD, LP, CMPC, is a licensed psychologist (North Dakota and Minnesota; PSYPACT) and Certified Mental Performance Consultant in Grand Forks, ND. She is the Founder and CEO of Haugen Performance Consulting, PLLC.
Dr. Haugen is passionate about psychological aspects of sport performance, athlete mental health, interprofessional practice, professional well-being, and ethical decision-making. Her enthusiastic, approachable, and practical style are assets when helping others.
Dr. Haugen is the Director of Mental Health and Performance Psychology in a DI Athletic Department and consults with several other institutions regarding program development. She works with elite athletes (collegiate, Olympic, professional) from over 20 different sports and specializes in working with athletic departments, student-athletes, coaches, and staff at the collegiate level (NCAA Division I, II, & III; NAIA).
With over 15 years of public speaking experience, Dr. Haugen provides workshops and presentations to groups in higher education, athletes, coaches, and sports medicine professionals. She is also an author on topics related to sport psychology, psychology of sport injury, ethical decision-making, athlete mental health, and the intersection of performance and mental health. She has extensive experience working with sports medicine professionals and received the 2023 Jack Weakley Award of Distinction from NATA for lifetime outstanding contributions directly impacting health care in the area of athletics, athletic training, and sports medicine.
Dr. Haugen is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Psychology at the University of North Dakota and past faculty member at Altru Family Medicine Residency. She provides mental health and performance psychology training to sports medicine fellows (family medicine & physical therapy), athletic training students, and graduate students in psychology. She provides consultation and mentorship for professionals interested in enhancing their work with athletes or pursuing the CMPC credential. She is a former member and past-president of the North Dakota State Board of Psychologist Examiners (NDSBPE).
In her spare time, Dr. Haugen competes in triathlons and enjoys camping and hiking with her husband and three border collie mix rescue dogs: Fromm, Eddie, and Bella.
