Rebecca Concepcion, Secretary-Treasurer Elect
Rebecca Y. Concepcion is an Associate Professor of Kinesiology at Saint Mary’s College of California. She obtained her Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in Sport and Exercise Psychology and a minor (M.S.) in Public Health from Oregon State University. Rebecca attended her first AASP conference in 2002 as a graduate student and was immediately taken by the dynamic energy of the organization. Since that time, she has served as an AASP regional student representative for three years and as the editorial assistant for the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology from 2003-2006. She has been a member of the Health and Exercise Psychology Committee since 2008 and is currently serving as chair of this committee. Additionally, Rebecca has served for two years on the AASP Grant Review Committee, has made annual research presentations, and has been a member of various panel presentations at AASP conferences. Her research focuses on self-concept, acculturation, and health behaviors and she has published in the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, the Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, to name a few. Rebecca has been a guest reviewer for the California Journal of Health Promotion, the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, as well as for the Western Psychological Association Annual Conference and the AASP Annual Conference. She has served as a university Title IX faculty representative and has been the faculty liaison to both collegiate women’s basketball and cross-country team athletes.
